MVP: Kenneth Walker III - 135 rush yds, 27 carries

For three quarters, this wasn't a football game. It was a defensive clinic. Seattle's front seven, the group they'd been calling "The Dark Side" all postseason, held New England to 23 total yards in the first half. That's the second-lowest first-half output in Super Bowl history. Drake Maye was sacked six times. He threw two interceptions. His offensive line looked like it had never met him.

The strange part: Seattle couldn't finish drives either. The Seahawks went 1-for-4 in the red zone. Kenneth Walker kept grinding out yards (135 on 27 carries), but every promising drive stalled at the 30, the 25, the 20. So Jason Myers kicked. And kicked. And kicked again. Five field goals. A new Super Bowl record. For three quarters, the most dangerous weapon on the field was a kicker's right leg.

The fourth quarter is where it broke open. AJ Barner caught the game's first touchdown, a 16-yard strike from Sam Darnold, to make it 19-0. New England answered with a Mack Hollins deep ball to cut it to 19-7, and for about 90 seconds, you could squint and see a game. Then Uchenna Nwosu jumped a Maye out-route at the line, picked it clean, and ran 45 yards the other way for a touchdown. That was it. The "Dark Side" put its name on a championship.

Michael Dickson deserves a sentence of his own. The punter pinned the Patriots inside their own 6-yard line three separate times. Two of those three drives ended in turnovers. The third ended with the final whistle. Punting won a Super Bowl. Write that down.

Uchenna Nwosu 45-yd interception return for TD
The play that won the Lombardi. Maye threw a short out-route. Nwosu read it before the ball left his hand, picked it at the line, and went untouched to the end zone. The "Dark Side" defense scored its own touchdown. Game over.

Q3 - SEA 12, NE 0
Derick Hall strip sack on Drake Maye
The play that killed New England's best chance at a comeback. Maye dropped back, Hall came off the edge completely unblocked, and ripped the ball out. One of six sacks on the day. The Patriots' offensive line never figured out Seattle's pressure packages.
3
Q4 - SEA 12, NE 0
AJ Barner 16-yd TD catch from Sam Darnold
The first touchdown of the entire game, arriving in the fourth quarter. Barner found a seam in the zone. Darnold threw a frozen rope. After 45 minutes of field goals, Seattle finally punched it in.

Q4 - SEA 22, NE 7
Jason Myers 26-yd FG (Super Bowl record: 5 FGs)
His fifth field goal broke the Super Bowl record. Myers accounted for 15 of Seattle's 29 points. More than half the champion's scoring came off a kicker's leg. Not how anyone drew it up, but it worked.

Q2 - SEA 3, NE 0
Michael Dickson punt, downed at NE 4-yard line
The first of three Dickson pins inside the 6. The Patriots ran one play, went three-and-out, and gave Seattle the ball back in plus territory. The punter controlled the field all day. Two of his three pins led directly to turnovers.
6
Q4 - SEA 19, NE 0
Mack Hollins 35-yd TD catch from Maye
For exactly 90 seconds, it felt like a game. Hollins got behind the secondary on a post route and Maye threw the best ball he'd thrown all day. 19-7. Then Nwosu happened.
7
Q4 - SEA 29, NE 7
Julian Love interception on NE's next drive
After the Nwosu pick-six, New England got the ball back and Maye threw another interception. His second of the quarter. The game was already over, but this was the defense twisting the knife.
8
Q1-Q3
Kenneth Walker III: 22 carries, 112 yards through three quarters
Walker didn't break a 40-yard run. He didn't score. But he gained 5.1 yards per carry behind an offensive line that controlled the clock for 33 minutes. Seattle kept feeding him, New England kept losing the field position battle, and the game slowly suffocated.
9
Q1 - 0-0
Jason Myers 33-yd FG (first score of the game)
The opening field goal set the tone. Seattle's defense had already forced a three-and-out, and the Seahawks marched to the NE 15 before stalling. A pattern that would repeat all afternoon.
10
Q3 - SEA 9, NE 0
Myers 41-yd FG (ties Super Bowl record: 4 FGs)
Tied the record for most field goals in a Super Bowl. At this point the broadcast crew was joking that Myers was the MVP frontrunner. They weren't entirely wrong. He was the only player on either team who could consistently put points on the board.

The model picked the right winner, and it wasn't close to being wrong about that. 63.4% of predictions had Seattle. The total points prediction (47.2) landed within 5 of the actual 42. Not bad. Where the model missed: the margin. We predicted a 6.3-point game. The actual margin was 16. The model expected a competitive loss for New England. What it got was a defensive strangling. Nobody's prediction model accounts for a punter pinning a team inside the 6-yard line three times.

BAD BUNNY HALFTIME SHOW: THE SETLIST TEST

We built a weighted prediction pool of 50 Bad Bunny songs based on Spotify streams, Puerto Rico residency frequency, sportsbook prop odds, and Super Bowl performance suitability. Each song got a weight from 35 to 99. Bad Bunny performed 15 songs (including tape intros). 13 of those 15 were in our pool. The model's song selection worked. The guest predictions did not.

13 / 15
SONGS WE HAD IN OUR PREDICTION POOL
1. LA MuDANZA (tape intro) wt: 76
2. Titi Me Pregunto wt: 97
3. Yo Perreo Sola / Safaera wt: 87 / 83
4. VOY A LLeVARTE PA PR wt: 73
5. Interlude (Quimbara elements) not in pool
6. EoO wt: 72
7. MONACO wt: 62
8. Die With a Smile ft. Lady Gaga not in pool
9. BAILE INoLVIDABLE wt: 98
10. NUEVAYoL wt: 88
11. LO QUE LE PASO A HAWAii ft. Ricky Martin wt: 74
12. El Apagon wt: 86
13. CAFE CON RON wt: 68
14. DtMF wt: 99
15. LA MuDANZA (tape outro) wt: 76

Where the model worked: Song selection. The weighting system nailed it. DtMF (weight 99), BAILE INoLVIDABLE (98), and Titi Me Pregunto (97) were our three highest-weighted songs. All three appeared. Even MONACO at weight 62 made the cut. The Spotify-streams-plus-residency-frequency formula was the right approach for predicting what an artist will actually perform.

Where it failed: Guests. Our top predicted guest was Cardi B at 63%. She didn't show. Ricky Martin was in our pool at 4%, basically a rounding error, and he walked out for "Lo Que Le Paso a Hawaii." Lady Gaga wasn't in our guest pool at all. She performed a salsa version of "Die With a Smile" with a live onstage wedding. No model predicts that. Some things are just genuinely surprising.
